Political distance index

My working paper with Shiro Armstrong uses an index of monthly ‘political distance’ between countries to estimate the effect of political relations on bilateral trade flows. The index is defined in the paper and can be downloaded below for a sample of 80 by 80 country pairs from January 1995 to December 2021. It was calculated using data pulled from The GDELT Project in February 2022.
